Invite Tony to speak

Tony delivers engaging and well-researched history talks designed for history societies, heritage organisations, libraries, community groups, adult learning audiences and anyone with a interest in real human stories in history

Real stories, compellingly tolD

His talks combine careful historical research with clear storytelling, helping audiences explore complex historical periods through compelling real-life stories. Tony's topics focus particularly on the First World War and the Irish revolutionary period, alongside lesser-known historical stories uncovered through original research.

Before focusing on historical writing and research, Tony spent many years presenting at international conferences in the UK, USA, Malaysia and across EMEA during his career in the technology sector, giving him extensive experience speaking to live audiences.

02

Women in War: Irish and British Women 1916–1923

A fascinating look at the contrasting roles played by women during Ireland's revolutionary period. From the Women's Police Service to Cumann na mBan, this talk highlights the often overlooked contributions, sacrifices and political influence of women on both sides.

03

Andy Symington: Tyrone's Most Wanted Man

Based on Tony's original research, this talk explores IRA activity in the Second Northern Division during the Irish War of Independence. Guerilla warfare, internment, spies, informants, executions and police murder gangs as sectarian conflict grips rural Northern Ireland.

Suitable for: Irish history societies, heritage groups and audiences interested in the Irish revolutionary period.

04

Rebellion, Regicide, Graffiti and Body Snatching

A lively and surprising journey through the colourful history of a Buckinghamshire village church. Eight centuries of history — if walls could speak, what stories they would tell!

Suitable for: Local history groups, heritage organisations and community events.

From an organiser

"Tony delivered an extremely well researched and entertaining talk about his military ancestors, thoroughly engaging the group. His performance was polished, and he is a fluent, charismatic speaker. I have recommended him to other groups, who have been delighted with his talks. He also gave a walking tour of a local church for about 25 people, sharing stories of its history and architecture. Feedback was exceptional, described as 'a wonderful morning.'"

"I had the pleasure of hearing you speak at the WI speakers day on 3rd April. I was fascinated to learn more about the Battle of the Somme and your personal connection. I am sure the members of our WI would be equally enthralled."
